Made with whole foods such as organic rolled oats, organic coconut, nuts, seeds and extra virgin olive oil, Early Bird Foods & Co. Granola is ideal for breakfast with yogurt, as a tasty ice cream topping or as a healthy snack.
The granola is offered in four varieties—Farmhand’s Choice with Hand-Selected Pecans; Aloha Recipe with Mango and Macadamia Nuts; Jubilee Recipe with Sour Cherries and Pistachios; and Choc-a-doodle-doo with Dark Chocolate and Coconut. All four varieties are made entirely by hand in small batches to ensure optimum toast and crunch in every bag. The granola is baked in Brooklyn, NY and is available at select specialty stores in the Northeast, as well as nationwide online.
While serving as the Manager of Franny’s restaurant in Brooklyn, NY, Early Bird Foods & Co. creator and owner Nekisia Davis developed an appreciation for simple food and above all, good olive oil—an ingredient essential in making Early Bird Granola so special. Davis, a Texan who grew up eating home-cooked meals prepared by her mother and grandmothers, is a true foodie with an immense appreciation for whole food that nourishes the body. After perfecting her granola recipe at home and testing it on friends to rave reviews, Davis realized it was time to go public and Early Bird Foods & Co. was born.
Effie’s Homemade was founded by two friends who have known each other for more than 20 years. Joan MacIsaac and Irene Costello have always believed that great flavors come from quality ingredients, simply prepared.
The inspiration for the company came from Joan’s mom, Effie MacLellan, and her recipe for oatcakes. Effie grew up on a rural farm in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. Like many traditional farmhouse recipes, the uniqueness of Oatcakes is in its honest and simple flavors. All of the company’s products are based upon this premise as Costello and MacIsaac rekindle old-fashioned and forgotten recipes.
Also inspiring the founders are memories of growing up in households where family time revolved around dinner and company was always welcome. Costello and MacIsaac cherish the time spent at the table sharing stories and laughter alongside homemade meals.
Hail a taxicab anywhere in New York City and tell the driver, "Take me to the best cheesecake in New York." Odds are you'll end up at the corner of Flatbush and DeKalb Avenues in Brooklyn, at Junior’s.
In 1950, restaurant founder Harry Rosen and master baker Eigel Peterson, created and produced what is now known as the world's most fabulous cheesecake. For decades, Brooklynites (and other New Yorkers) have traveled to Junior's landmark restaurant to treat themselves to the cheesecake that sets the standard for all others.
At Nutty Steph's Vermont Granola, human hands, maple syrup and whole nourishing nuts join together to make all-natural, delicious granola, dark chocolate granola bars and delectable trail mix.
Nutty Steph's began in October, 2003 when (former math teacher) Steph needed a new, challenging but unrestrictive job. Steph’s mom suggested that she start a part-time business with pure Vermont maple syrup and that phenomenal granola recipe she had up her sleeve. This was, after all, the land known for its maple syrup and other specialty, delicious, natural foods. Within a week of her suggestion, Steph whipped up a batch of her all-natural, Vermont Granola and peddled it to the bulk bins of the 5 largest Vermont food co-ops. The Vermont Granola sales topped those of the national granola brands practically overnight and that "part-time" plan was out the window. Steph has been at it, full-tilt-boogie, ever since.

The new company was named after the Moravian settlement of Salem located in our community, which was established in 1766, and was the source of the recipe for the first product - Moravian Cookies.
